Recognising emotional spending

It is important for consumers to be aware of their spending habits.  Many consumers spend money for emotional reasons. For example, people spend money to compensate for when they feel sad and disappointed, or when they want to celebrate a success.

  • Do you head to the mall or click on your favourite retail Web site?
  • Do you treat yourself to an expensive meal or enjoy a weekend getaway even though you really can’t afford it?
